The Detroit Fightimg Irish skated to victory on Sunday afternoon at the Southgate Civic Center Ice Arena as they defeated the Midwest Blackbirds 6-2 in a USPHL Midwest Premie game.Captain Clay Hightower scored twice in the contest which was highlighted by a pair of career first goals scored by Perry Fereabend and Nick Goldie Fereabend made sure that he made the scoresheet scoring a 2nd goal in the afternoon and Forward Bradley Scott also scored to put an exclamation mark on the win for the Irish. Goaltender Derek Antol backstopped the Irish turning away 25 Shots.
The Fighting Irish were in control of the game right from the very first possession of the game and outshot the Blackbirds 42-27 on the afternoon. Captain Clay Hightower continued on his scoring streak as he netted his 6th point of the weekend and continues to average 2.54 points per game.
" We were a focused team today coming off of two battles two nights in a row we expected a let down but our players are growing as a team and are beginning to understand that on those hard to play days each player has to concentrate on what they do well and have to lean a little harder on the young guys, we did that today and look what we got 3 goals from rookies stated Coach Dennis Boomer.
