Coach David Taylor released the following statement we are very happy that Clay will return to the Irish line up this season he provided quality leadership on and off the ice last season and he will continue to be our captain. Clay’s 2019-2020 performance sets a very high bar for himself and for our team. I know that Clay will put in the work and has the discipline to exceed those measurables
“We have a bunch of guys here whom are really focused on “We” and our nucleus as a group stuck together last year and overcame a lot of adversity. I think a lot of players in the area took notice of that and are now part of our team. My goals are to play at the college level and I know that by being on a team filled with guys that are willing to work together that this increases my objectives as well as our team’s objectives. My other goal is that we are a team that gives ourselves an opportunity to win every time were on the ice I learned last year that this takes a lot more than just talent and hard work, it takes chemistry and learning to rely on every player on our roster we all have to be contributors” stated Hightower
The Fighting Irish will open the USPHL season in October and begin training skates at their home arena in Southgate Michigan on September 7th . For more information on the Detroit Fighting Irish go to the team's website
