Derek Antol Jr will be returning to patrol the Detroit Fighting Irish Crease for the 2020-2021 Season the team announced today, The Muskegon Native played for the Irish during the 2019-2020 Season and had previously guarded the twine for Reefs Puffer High School
"We are very happy that Derek is returning and will be part of our team this season. We felt that when we signed Derek before the 2019-2020 season that he would develop into a top goalie Derek understands that to be a successful goaltender requires patience and the willingness to work on every element of the game on the ice , off the ice and mentally. Derek is that guy and we believe that his never quit work ethic and his strong commitment to the teem values makes him an essential part of a core of players that came together as a team last year and mutually share a belief that they are on a path together. A path that can lead to both personal success and team success for the entire group" GM Dan Vasquez
"We are looking to Derek with a year of experience behind him to be part of a veteran group of players that will continue to bring their own flavor to arena every day and continue to develop a "We can do" culture in our organization both on an off the ice" Coach David Taylor
Antol stated that he is ready to get back on the ice and putting this years team together and is wasting no time in getting prepared for the upcoming season as he plans to participate at several combines, as well as the Chowder Cup in Boston. He will also continue a summer and preseason work out regiment under the supervision of the Fighting Irish staff.
Expect big things from from Derek Antol is the message
